History

The Lemont Junior Woman’s Club (LJWC) first met Tuesday, March 9, 1993, at the Lemont Historical Society. The enthusiasm and interest generated that evening inspired everyone who was present.

In May of 1993, the Lemont Junior Woman’s Club became members of the Fifth District of the Federation of Junior Women’s Clubs. May 5th, 1993, 50 women became charter members of the Lemont Junior Woman’s Club, the largest charter membership of federated clubs in Illinois history.

In September of 1993, the Lemont Junior Woman’s Club began meeting at the Lemont Village Hall. The club was accepted into the Illinois Federation of Women’s Clubs (IFWC) and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC).

The years have brought us new members, new ideas, and new enthusiasm. Our club has grown in numbers since 1993, and continues to salute our charter members.
