Community Outreach

Outdoor Classroom and Interpretation Center at the Lemont Township 59 Acre Woodland Sanctuary

We have teamed up with the Lemont Township to build an Outdoor Learning Classroom that the entire community can enjoy. The classroom will include a custom limestone fireplace and twelve limestone benches. In addition, the LJWC will be working with the Township on an Interactive Story Wall, new signs along walking paths, identification plaques for plants, a recycling program, and much much more. Stay tuned as this project evolves.

Lemont Open Food Pantries

Make a Difference Day

Make a Difference Day

Make a Difference Day
Each October the LJWC takes part in the National Make a Difference Day. Our project since 2006 has been “Baskets of Basics.” Members collect household necessities like toilet paper, cleaning supplies and toiletries for local families in need. The project has grown from 80 to 120 baskets over the years. The project is bolstered by support from local girl scout troops and donations from local businesses, making this a true community effort.
