I’ve enjoyed living in Lemont for almost 8 years now and finally got around to joining LJWC in 2020 (I was the only member attending that September meeting in person!) I love the positive impact that LJWC imparts upon the Lemont community, and I have especially loved being involved in the Philanthropy Committee for the past 5 years.  Through my experience in the club, I’ve learned new skills in website management, QuickBooks, and communications. I’ve also served as treasurer, co-president, and am honored to again serve as co-president this year.

When not chasing my four kids around (ages 7, 5, 3, and 12 months), I love gardening and being outside in nature.

I have three children and have been married for 8 years. I grew up in Lemont and moved back after college. I enjoy checking out the new restaurants and shops downtown and volunteering for Ruby Whiskers Animal Rescue.

I joined the LJWC in November 2021. My favorite activity was volunteering for Breakfast with Santa.

I’m a lifelong Lemonster, now raising my three children (ages 2, 4, and 6) here with my husband. As a freelance writer with diverse roles in the public library, business aviation, and philanthropy sectors, I am happy to use my fundraising, marketing, and IT skills to support the woman’s club. I enjoy drinking coffee (and wine), going on walks while listening to podcasts, and trying to put a dent in my neverending to-be-read booklist.

I joined LJWC in 2022 and am passionate about the impact the club’s Hope Closet has on the community by reducing, reusing, and recycling gently used clothes, shoes, and coats for those in need and those with always-growing family members.

Treasurer

I joined the LJWC in May of 2021 after attending a new member event.  I was intrigued by the vast personalities in the Club and was happy to join after living in Lemont for over 15 years.  I began my journey on the Philanthropy Committee, later moving to Philanthropy Chair, Co-President and now Treasurer.

I spend my time outside of the LJWC with my husband, daughter and son enjoying the surrounding areas in our RV,  her name is Fred. Music and reading are also two things I cannot live without, listening to California pop punk and reading gothic horror or Stephen King is how I spend any other free time.

Jenn McCarty

Community Outreach Chair

I joined the LJWC in 2020 after a new member event. I had recently just started socializing again during COVID and it was the perfect outdoor event. I was very impressed by all of the smart, strong, successful women I met who  truly wanted to make a difference in Lemont. Shortly after joining, I agreed to take over the community outreach chair position and really enjoyed the position as it allowed me to not only meet residents but also business owners and other organization leaders. I served as a co-president of the club from 2022-2023. During my time, we revamped the sponsorship program, put on a very successful casino night and held the first mental health symposium. My favorite event is Breakfast With Santa. This coming year will be my fourth year chairing it!

Outside of the club, I am a busy mom of two young girls. I am also an avid reader and founded the Lemont Ladies Book Club, which meets once a month.

We’ve lived in our home in Lemont since 2018.  This year, my husband and I will be busy building a new house near the library. We’re hoping the process goes smoothly and without too much stress. We’re also celebrating our 10-year anniversary and are hoping to renew our vows in December!

When I'm not focused on the house, I love spending time with our three kids, teaching middle school, meeting new people, and puzzling. I enjoy creating fun experiences with my family and friends.

My family (three of us at the time) moved to Lemont in September of 2020. I joined LJWC in January of 2023 with a hope to get more involved in the community and form new friendships in town. We’re now a family of five and have been loving building our roots here in Lemont.

It is a complete joy to be serving as the Philanthropy Chair for an organization full of dedicated, hard working, and compassionate women. I have enjoyed taking part in many initiatives and events through the club. This past year my biggest focus was growing and helping oversee Hope Closet and managing our special grants program.

Ways & Means Chair

I joined the club in October 2020 at a new member event held two doors from my house. I had just moved to Lemont one month before and I’m always up for meeting new people and getting involved. I rode the pine for a little while to better understand what the club did. I eventually became the Ways & Means chair in 2022-2023 where Jen McCarty and I revamped the sponsorship program to what it is today and hosted a very profitable Casino Night. I’m happy to see our efforts to find sponsors has continued since I was last in the role thanks to Debbie Prendergast and Nina Nelson and that we can continue to make contributions to other local causes through our fundraising efforts.

Outside of the club, I have two children who are very involved in baseball and cheerleading and when I do find those precious moments of couch time, I like to crochet blankets for family and friends. I am also the GFWC IL 5th/6th District’s Director of Junior Clubs - Elect. I have one more year of my current position and then will serve for two more years as the Director of Junior Club for our district.
