Lemont Junior Woman's Club and Lemont Township's Scarecrow Trail

The LJWC and Lemont Township Scarecrow Trail is an annual scarecrow contest held at the Lemont Heritage and Woodland Sanctuary in the months of September and October during which the Lemont community (and visitors) is encouraged to participate by building a scarecrow and/or voting for their favorite scarecrow.  The Lemont Junior Woman's Club is grateful for the partnership between our club, the Lemont Juniorettes, and the Lemont Township in order to put on this wonderful event each fall.

Monster and Me Mile Fun Run:  Lemont Juniorettes, a middle-school and high-school girls service group chartered by LJWC, will be hosting their annual Monster and Me Mile Fun Run at 2 pm at the Lemont Township Heritage and Woodland Sanctuary on October 11th (immediately prior the LPD Harvest Fest). Please click here for more info and to register for the run (deadline to register is Sept. 30th).  All proceeds benefit the charitable work the Lemont Juniorettes does in the community.

2025 LJWC and Lemont Township Scarecrow Trail Contest Dates & Information:

Registration:  Online applications (please see below) and payment are due by September 21st, 2025.

Community Voting: Community scarecrow voting begins September 21st - October 19th, 2025. 

Registration Fees:  There is a non-refundable $25 entry fee for families and organizations, and $40 entry fee for businesses (payable by credit card, check, Zelle, or cash).

Scarecrow Pick-up: A six-foot tall wooden frame (in the shape of a cross) is provided to build your scarecrow.  You can pick up your scarecrow frame by the front door of the Lemont Township Community Center (16300 Alba Street) beginning September 3rd, 2025, whenever is convenient to you.

Scarecrow Drop-off:  Completed (or nearly finished) scarecrows are due on Saturday, September 27th, 2025 between 9-12 pm to the Lemont Heritage and Woodland Sanctuary at 16300 Alba Street, Lemont.  LJWC members will attach your scarecrow to a metal post pre-staked in the Sanctuary and after which, you are free to put any remaining finishing touches on the scarecrow.  Scarecrow locations are provided on a first-come-first-served basis.  A sign indicating the name of your scarecrow will be provided and installed by LJWC.

Awards:  Cash prizes will be awarded as follows for the most votes in the following categories:  Best Youth Project, Best Family Project, Best Portrayal of the Theme, Most Creative, and Best Photo Opportunity.

*Winners will be contacted by LJWC prior to October 25th, 2025.  Winning scarecrows will be moved by the Lemont Township to the Village Green for the downtown Lemont Trick or Treating Event on October 25th, 20245, and remain on display there through Nov. 1st.

Scarecrow Removal:  Scarecrows must be removed from the Lemont Heritage and Woodland Sanctuary (and winning scarecrows from the Village Green) prior to November 3th, 2025 or they will be discarded by the Lemont Township.
